Communications

Telecommunications is one of the rapidly growing sectors of the Ukrainian economy and it has been a primary recipient of both domestic and foreign investment. Modest progress has been achieved to date in commercialization of the sector. Corporatization of the dominant operator Ukrtelecom has taken place and there is some separation of operation from public sector governance, but tariffs are still politically set. In telephony Ukraine is more advanced than Russia and Romania, though still far behind West European countries. In more advanced means of communications like Internet and mobile telephony Ukraine is an obvious laggard.
