The tenure of Supreme Legal Council members save those who are ex-officio members, is six years.

A national of Ukraine who is over 35 years of age, who has lived in Ukraine the past ten years, speaks the official language, has a higher law education and at least ten-year experience in the legal area, can qualify for Supreme Legal Council membership.

These requirements do not apply to ex-officio members of the Supreme Legal Council.

Bringing influence to bear upon Council members is prohibited.
